HyperX, the gaming division of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., today announced the gaming peripherals sponsorship of Sports Academy, a 96,000 square-foot, multi-sport training facility located in Thousand Oaks. Since opening its 2,000 square-foot esports center in May 2017, Sports Academy has become a destination for professional and amateur esports athletes looking to elevate their gaming performance. The partnership with Sports Academy is a key part of HyperX’s We’re All Gamers initiative, focused on engaging the community that sees gaming as a lifestyle – from casual gamers to traditional professional athletes – to create and support the next generation of gamers.
“HyperX is aligning with partners that are passionate about gaming and inclusive of all gamers,” said Wendy Lecot, head of corporate strategic alliances, HyperX. “The collaboration with Sports Academy esports center is a natural extension for HyperX as it represents the convergence of sports and esports and is a positive force for athletes, providing gameplay and training programs for traditional sports athletes, casual gamers and professionals at all skill levels.”
Along with a state-of-the-art esports center, the Sports Academy campus features a performance training center, integrated sports medicine, cognitive training labs, recovery center, and sports-specific skill training all under one roof. Every program is tailored to the athlete’s specific needs and abilities.
“We have done extensive research on training methodologies around improving the health, endurance, and physicality of esports athletes that translates to improving gaming performance,” said Bryce Brown, senior performance trainer, Sports Academy. “Our esports training boot camps incorporate specialized training and development for the lower back, proper posture, hand-eye coordination, and strong core, forearms, hands, wrists and fingers.”
With HyperX as the gaming peripherals sponsor of Sports Academy, esports athletes will get access to best-in-class headsets, keyboards, mice, and mousepads for optimum gaming performance. The athletes will also be invited to new HyperX product testing parties and cooperative research sessions focused on cognitive well-being through game play.
The Sports Academy supports all levels of gaming communities with HyperX and hosts events such as “NBA 2K” Tuesdays, “Fortnite” Fridays and “League of Legends” camps. The Sports Academy also features tournament viewing parties where fans can meet the esports teams and tryout new HyperX products. The venue is also available for private events.
